Together Is Thy Peace

Ernest Williamson, III

flaxen,
I saw the remnants
of mother's
life.
She was a math whiz
a mixture of beauty
and solemn piety
mourning the death of giants
with supple eyes
delievered spirits
and dark skin
yet I have grown
in the midst
of her maturity
looking to and fro
fearfully
as attempts to fit
in certain circles
of finite suprise
of finite wastes
yet mother is
the apex
of my ignorance
as the lamb
belongs
to the love of the shepard
and grown now
are my rituals
and together is thy peace.
