The Telephones of Adam Robinson
I drew these phones for the cover of a new book from Publishing Genius Press. It's a story by Matthew Simmons called "A Jello Horse." In the story, the main character goes to a phone museum, where 2,000 phones are connected to different lines, and sometimes wrong numbers ring through. Visitors to the museum answer the phones and try to start a conversation.
What's with phones? Remember prank calls? Remember prank call comedians were so popular that the Jerky Boys were able to make a living at it? What's with that? Sometimes I think we're all trying to connect with people, and other times I think we're trying to disrupt people. Whatever the case, I'm no good on the phone. I can't pay attention. When I try hard to pay attention, I end up pacing around my apartment. I collapse on my bed but a minute later I find myself doodling at the kitchen table. What's with that.
I have one phone. It does not call Mother. I need to go call Mother, and when I call her I will draw a picture of a phone.
