BEAT NIGHT at the Pressroom

Cornelia Prevost

Jazz strains pull you
from the median
like a rubber-band,
letting you trip
back to the resolve that
makes it all music.
Lascivious riffs
stoke pheromone factories,
retuning your animal radar
to reach every corner of the room.
Nerve endings glow like street lamps
that lure you into city nights.

Cornelia Prevost has had her poetry published in Compass Rose, Northern New England Review, and The Poet's Touchstone.
